WITHOUT FROM WITHIN: Poems by Ron Shaw

coverwfw

Isn’t it amazing how people come into your life? The marvelous, incredibly talented friends we meet through the various social media sites are indeed treasures.

What follows is one of my poems in English from my book WITHOUT FROM WITHIN: Poems by Ron Shaw. Amazon Kindle eBook Below the English version is the French translation of this poem. It was presented to me by one of the lovely people I’ve met on this delightful journey in words. Her name is Helene. She is French, and I’m both lucky and proud to know her.

Helene, my dear friend, thank you from my heart.

I hope you enjoy this poem and her translation of it into French.

Invisible

Allow a timid guess?

You’re invisible, too.

Existing in plain view

among eyes unseeing

and thoughts uncaring.

You scream in silence.

Iced hearts are unmoved.

A ghostly life ethereal

damning spirit within.

Wandering on empty,

without from within.

Invisible

S’accorder une timide supposition?

Invisible vous l’êtes aussi.

Exister parmi d’aveugles

yeux et d’insensibles pensées.

Tu hurles en silence.

Impassibles sont les coeurs glacés.

Une vie intérieure fantôme et éthérée

t’accable l’esprit.

Sans limite,

tu erres dans le vide.

  1. This is one of my favorites, Ron. Despite an emotional “heaviness,” it carries a gentle beauty within. There is beauty in truth – an innocence within the vulnerability it holds. Where freedom and hope emerge, and await to take flight. My French is limited, but even “reading” this poem in French, I sense that same beauty. Wishing you the very best on this new road traveled. (This is my second attempt at commenting on “Invisible.” My phone “died” in-the-midst the 1st time…) I love the picture you chose…I believe it captures the essence of this poem well. Take care, my friend. Suzanne

It’s a pleasure to know you. Thank you for your comments. I appreciate it. How can I help you? I don’t fully understand what you’re requesting. I do not have a newsletter due to time restraints. My weekly radio show plus all of my books and works in progress keep me very busy.
Thank you for stopping by and reading my posts.

  3. Thank you, Ron, for your beautiful words of kindness. I have been so moved by your poems, and it is truly obvious I stand far from alone. I did read “Woe” in French, before seeing your note above. I felt such sadness in reading it, yet…it stood with beauty. Again, my French is very limited…a word here, or there…leaving much unknown in between. Yet, the flow remains unmistakeable. “Beauty is truth. Truth, beauty…” (Or, vice-versa. My apologies to the well-known poet who first penned those words, whose name escapes me at this moment). “Woe” is another favorite. It’s pure innocence and vulnerability scream truth, and the beauty it holds….bringing hope to the horizon. I do not believe we can begin to embrace love, in it’s truest form, unless we also embrace our own vulnerability within…opening the path to understanding, compassion, and forgiveness. God Bless You, Ron. Onward!
